Practical Laboratory

Practical Laboratory

The practical laboratories at KSMCH, Jehanabad, combine modern infrastructure with integrated IT and audiovisual facilities to support hands-on medical education. Organised workspaces and facilities for faculty-led demonstrations create a comfortable, student-friendly environment for practical learning.

Digital presentations, instructional videos, and visual demonstrations complement laboratory exercises, helping students understand procedures and connect their observations with classroom concepts. Faculty-guided sessions encourage questions, collaborative learning, and the development of essential practical skills.

The student practical laboratories, corresponding to those listed in the NMC Undergraduate Minimum Standard Requirements (UG-MSR), include:

Histology Laboratory: Supports the microscopic study of normal tissues and organs, complemented by digital images and visual explanations of tissue structure.

Clinical Physiology Laboratory: Helps students explore normal body functions through practical exercises, measurements, and audiovisual demonstrations.

Biochemistry Laboratory: Supports learning in biochemical processes and laboratory investigations through practical work and digital teaching resources.

Histopathology and Cytopathology Laboratory: Introduces disease-related changes in tissues and cells through microscopic examination and supporting visual material.

Clinical Pathology and Haematology Laboratory: Develops skills in examining blood and other clinical specimens, documenting observations, and interpreting findings.

Microbiology Laboratory: Supports practical learning about microorganisms, diagnostic techniques, and infection prevention, reinforced by multimedia instruction.

Clinical Pharmacology Laboratory: Promotes understanding of drug therapy, dosage calculations, rational prescribing, and medication safety through practical exercises and interactive teaching.

Computer-Assisted Learning (CAL) Laboratory in Pharmacology: Uses computer-based simulations and interactive resources to explain drug actions and dose–response relationships.

Together, laboratory equipment, IT resources, and AV systems support clear demonstrations and active student participation. Teaching across all laboratories emphasises safety, responsible handling of specimens and equipment, accurate documentation, and scientific reasoning, building a strong foundation for clinical training.
