The medical museums at KSMCH, Jehanabad, support visual and practical learning, helping students connect classroom concepts with the structure of the human body, disease processes, and clinical practice. Faculty-guided demonstrations and independent study encourage careful observation, discussion, and deeper understanding.
The NMC museum framework provides for three complementary museum facilities:
Anatomy Museum: Supports the study of human structure through anatomical specimens, bones, models, charts, and radiological images. These resources help students understand the relationships between organs and appreciate their clinical significance.
Pathology and Forensic Medicine Museum: Brings together learning resources on disease processes and medico-legal medicine. Pathological specimens illustrate changes in organs and tissues, while forensic exhibits support understanding of injuries, toxicology, and medico-legal principles.
Pharmacology, Microbiology and Community Medicine Museum: Supports integrated learning about medicines, microorganisms, disease prevention, and public health through models, charts, educational displays, and relevant teaching materials.
The NMC framework includes organised display and storage facilities for wet and dry specimens, where applicable, and models, together with facilities for viewing radiological and digital images. It also provides for student seating, audiovisual and internet facilities, and digital links with lecture theatres, teaching rooms, and practical laboratories.
Combining physical exhibits with digital teaching resources supports clear explanations, interactive demonstrations, and self-directed learning.
Museum-based teaching encourages scientific curiosity, accurate observation, and respectful handling of educational specimens. These learning spaces strengthen students’ understanding of medical science and help them relate foundational knowledge to patient care.
